Terms and Conditions
of Admission

Students are accepted by South Chelsea College (SCC) on the basis of the following terms and conditions:

1. Enrolling for a course at SCC constitutes a binding agreement with the student to attend and complete the work of the course and to pay the full tuition fees.
2. All declarations made in applications for admission are accepted in good faith.   Any false declarations about qualifications or age, or failure to produce documentary evidence of entry qualifications, may render a student liable to expulsion from the course to which he/she has been admitted.
3. Students who do not have qualifications will be tested by the college on arrival and placed in the level most suitable to their ability.
4. Students admitted to a course without first having been interviewed may be required to undergo an English language test on arrival to ensure that they have sufficient understanding of the language to cope with the course.  Depending on the result of the test, they may be required to follow a remedial language course for as long as is deemed necessary to bring them up to the required standard.
5. It is the student's responsibility to register with any relevant professional body (where applicable), or enter for any examinations held externally. Students will not be allowed to register for examinations unless they have paid their college fees in full.
6. Letters for the extension of Visas will be issued only to students who are in attendance of not less than 15 daytime hours (Monday to Friday) in accordance with the Home Office regulations.
7. Students may neither drop a subject nor change from one course to another without permission from SCC.
8. Students are required to attend classes regularly and punctually. SCC reserves the right to report students who do not comply with this requirement to sponsors and other interested parties or to relevant statutory authorities.  Students who have been absent for reason of ill health must provide a doctor’s certificate to cover the entire period of absence.
9. Students may be excluded from attending classes unless they have paid full fees.
10. Students must sign the attendance register for each class attended.  Students may not sign for another student. If this occurs, both students face expulsion from SCC.
11. Students who are unable to join their course at the scheduled start date must inform SCC accordingly at least two weeks prior to the start of their course.  Any applications for deferment of the starting date that are not received by this time will only be accepted at the discretion of the Principal. A £30 charge will be made when a new registration letter, for a later start date, is needed.  This will be deducted from the original deposit.
12. SCC reserves the right to cancel courses, amalgamate classes, increase or reduce the number of lectures in a week, or discontinue a course if the need arises. Effort will be made to place student in an alternative suitable class.
13. Students who change address must notify SCC immediately.
14. Important notices are displayed on the SCC’s notice boards. It is the students' responsibility to ensure that such notices are read.
15. SCC will not be held liable for any property or money lost on its premises.  Students using SCC's address to receive mail are doing so at their own risk.  SCC bears no responsibility for any loss of mail belonging to a student.
16. SCC is committed to offering an education and an environment, which seeks to provide equality of opportunity and freedom from discrimination on grounds of race, gender, class, sexuality or religion.
17. Anti-social behaviour, including bullying, theft and substance abuse will not be tolerated. Students who engage in such behaviour will be liable to immediate suspension/expulsion from the College.
18. All details printed in the SCC prospectus and other literatures are correct at the time of printing.  If deemed necessary, SCC reserves the right to make changes to the courses and amend the dates of courses and fees payable without prior notice.
19. If the application form is signed on behalf of the student by his/her sponsor/guardian/representative, or an online application is submitted, all conditions will still apply.
20. Fees quoted for courses cover tuition only.  Registration fees with professional bodies and/or examining boards, examination fees, books, manuals, writing materials etc are not included.
21. Tuition fees are payable in full before a student begins a course.  Students will not be allowed to sit for examination if college fees are outstanding even if the exams fee has been paid.
22. The College Registration fee (£80) is not refundable.
23. Tuition fees, less a £170 administration and student placement cost, are only refundable if a student has been refused entry or a Visa to enter the United Kingdom.  A refund will be made provided that all following conditions are met:

• The student or his/her representative has informed SCC by registered letter, email, or receipted fax of the student’s inability to start the course by the registration date on his/her enrolment letter
• The student has not yet entered the United Kingdom
• SCC is provided with a copy of the letter, issued by the British High Commission/Embassy, confirming the refusal of the Visa application
• The student is not awaiting the outcome of an appeal against the refusal of his/her visa application or has notified SCC by registered letter, email, or receipted fax within two months of the date of an Appeal Tribunal Judgment
• The registration letter and receipt for fees paid are returned to SCC in their original form
• No false documentation or misinformation has been tendered by the student during the Visa application process.

24. Students who are late in starting their course or have been absent from classes for a period of time or have not been attending all the subjects that they have enrolled for will not be entitled to any refund or reduction of tuition fees.
25. Students who have commenced lectures and/or used SCC documents to confirm their student status with employers, airlines or any other third parties are not eligible for a refund of tuition feeys.
26. If a student is required by the Home Office to leave the United Kingdom because of poor or non-attendance or because of any breach of law, tuition fees will not be refundable.
27. A place will not be guaranteed for students who have not paid the applicable fees by the due date.
