EDI Level 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care
This is an ideal qualification for students who want to develop a broad
background in Health and Social Care. It leads to qualification at Level
3 of the National Qualifications Framework, equivalent to ‘A’ level, and
it provides technical knowledge and understanding that students will
need in the workplace or in further education or training.
At South Chelsea College students will gain skills in computing,
presentation and research in addition to learning about the needs of
both adults and children within care settings.
Course Structure: 3 years
Year 1 : Course Subjects
- Communicating in Relationships
- Child and Adult Development
- Computer Applications
- Numeracy and Communication
- Presentation and Cultural Awareness Skills.
Year 2: Course Subjects
- Using personal, interpersonal and professional skills to deliver
a care service
- Promoting the well-being and protection of adults in a care
setting
- Research Skills.
Year 3: Course Subjects
- Promoting the individual’s health, safety and security in a
health setting
- Promoting the well-being and protection of children in a care
setting
- Study Skills for Higher Education.
Entry Requirements
All students intending to study for a Level 3 Certificate in Health and
Social Care at SCC will need to be able to demonstrate that they have
prior learning experience to a minimum of NQF level 2 (GCSE’s or
equivalent).
Students who enrol for three years and who successfully complete the
Certificate of Health and Social Care at the end of their second year,
will be permitted to progress to an alternative suitable course, such as
the Diploma in HIV/Aids and the Community.
Progression
Progression opportunities following this course will depend on the
level of any additional qualifications held by the student. Successful
students are encouraged either to continue their studies at a relevant
higher education institution/ University or to apply their knowledge
and skills to effecting change in a community environment.
South Chelsea College is developing a progression route for new
and existing students through a Higher Diploma in Understanding,
Control and Prevention of Infectious Disease at level 4 of the National
Qualifications Framework (NQF). Students will be expected to
demonstrate evidence of having achieved a relevant level 3 qualification
before being admitted to the Higher Diploma Course.
