This course will equip students with knowledge, experience and skills to enable them to join in the fight against the widespread problem of HIV/AIDS infection.
It is designed for students wishing to further their understanding, education and development skills. The course will also be suitable for people from the community or professional backgrounds
The programme will run through one academic year. The course will start in January, April and September of each year.
Great emphasis will be placed on active and student-centered learning, thus giving students the confidence and abilities to continue their learning journey after the completion of the course.
The first 4 modules will provide students with the knowledge needed about the serious and widespread problem of HIV/AIDS. Whilst the last module: ‘Health Promotion and Presentation Skills’ will enable students to develop, and practice the skills necessary to make an effective impact in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS infection. Students will develop their understanding of how computers can be used in researching and presenting information.
Professional guest speakers will be invited to present workshops on various issues related to HIV/AIDS from an African perspective.

The course attendance requirement for students will be a minimum of 15 hours per week.
Entry Requirements
Entry to this course does not require formal qualifications, but students will need to demonstrate a good standard of English and good communication skills. Students will be required to make presentations during their course and to undertake written examinations at the end of the course.
It is College policy to test students at the start of the academic year. Those students whose level of English or whose previous education is considered insufficient to cope with the course will be offered a key skills course instead as an access option.
