Frequently Asked
Questions

Where is South Chelsea College?

The College is sited in the heart of Brixton, one of the major shopping areas of Inner London.

Is South Chelsea College internationally recognised?

South Chelsea College is accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) and has a sponsorship licence issued by the United Kingdom Border Authority (UKBA) – Licence no 14C9VYP94. See Accreditation page for details.  The qualifications offered at the College are externally accredited and verified and are therefore recognised internationally.

What subjects are taught at the College?

Computer Studies, Business Studies, Travel Industry Studies and English as a Foreign Language. See the individual Course pages for more details.

What qualifications must I have before I can study at South Chelsea College?

Adult students can only come to the UK as a Tier 4 general student to study courses of over 6 months, at level 4 or above of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).  These are courses of study leading from GCE “A” level or a similar standard in your own country. This means you must already have qualifications at a minimum QCF level 3 or GCE “A” level or a similar standard in your own country.  For courses above QCF level 4 you will need higher qualifications so you should check the requirements of your particular course.

How long are the Courses?

All Courses (apart from English as a Foreign Language) are for a minimum of 1 year duration, although most students enrol on a course of study through which they can progress to Advanced Diploma or Post-Graduate Diploma level. Courses usually start in January/February, April/May and July/August/September/October.

How much does it cost?

See the Tuition Fees page for details of individual Courses.

How do I apply?

You must send us a correctly completed application form together with evidence of your educational qualifications,  UKBA approved certificate of English Language level, and copy of the information pages of your passport. We then record your details and consider your application. If you have not applied in person and been interviewed at the College, a member of staff will contact you to conduct a telephone interview. Providing you are successful you are then offered a place to study at the College and you will be asked to pay fees or a deposit.

See the Enrolment page for more details on how you can apply, and how to make your payment. Please note that we do not accept payments by credit card.

What happens after I make my payment to enrol in the College?

Once our bank clears your payment a place is reserved for you for the Term intake that you wish to begin studying, and we send you your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) by first class mail, which is needed before a Student Visa can be issued to you in your country.

How do I get a Student Visa?

You must apply to the British Embassy or Consulate for a Student Entry Visa. See the Enrolment page for more details.

Does the College write to the Embassy?

No. We are not allowed to influence the Embassy.

Do you give financial help or sponsorship to Students?

No. The College does not give financial help or sponsor Students.

What about Accommodation in England?

See the Accommodation page for more details.

Can you send me the College Prospectus and an application form by post?

In order to provide the most up to date information for prospective students the College does not provide a paper prospectus. However, it regularly updates its website to provide current information on the Courses available.
