Summer Course in English Language

See London and learn to talk about it!

Learn English in London

Welcome to South Chelsea College and our Summer English School for June, July & August. Our programme combines stimulating and effective language practice together with language learning activities in and around London. The College is situated in a trendy central London location, ideally connected to rail, bus and underground links. Language tuition includes a special focus on verbal skills and pronunciation.

SCC offers a warm and friendly environment. We encourage students to practice their English outside the classroom, and our location places all the tourist attractions of central London within easy reach.

What is different about this Summer English Programme?

At South Chelsea College we have developed a programme which is unique. Whereas most other Colleges offer language tuition and cultural trips, at SCC we offer a blend of both, interweaving language tuition with visits to places of historical interest and tourist attractions. Each trip has a language theme and a set of tasks which have been specially created for it. For details see below.

Accommodation:

London is a popular city, especially in the Summer, and whether you have decided to book your own accommodation or would prefer us to arrange this for you, we strongly recommend that bookings are made well in advance to ensure availability.

South Chelsea College is able to offer a choice of three different options:

Homestay:

Students are placed with a family where they will have the opportunity of speaking English beyond the classroom setting and can enjoy the experience of being part of a British home.

SCC uses families who have been selected for their friendliness and their homes must meet British Council (English UK) standards. Hosts will provide meals as booked and rooms (including bed linen) will be cleaned on a weekly basis.

Hostel

If you don’t mind sharing and are looking for a Central London location then the lively environment of a hostel might be the right choice for you. Most hostels have their own bar, internet café, TV room and kitchen, with reception often open 24 hours a day! Prices start at £105 per week (averaging £120). Please contact the College if you require SCC to book this type of accommodation on your behalf and we will check availability for you.

Self Catering Accommodation

Self-catering accommodation can be arranged at a cost of £135 per week for a single room or £115 per week sharing (friends only). Most rooms available on a self-catering basis are in family houses although occasionally rooms are available in shared houses or flats.

How to Book Accommodation

If you would like to book accommodation through SCC you must send a payment to cover two weeks accommodation plus £5 summer supplement, together with a £15 non-refundable booking fee plus any bank charges, at least 6 weeks prior to the start of your course.

Students who want to book accommodation less than 6 weeks before their classes are due to begin, or who want SCC to book hostel accommodation on their behalf, should contact the College before making any payment, to check availability. Students who arrange their own accommodation will not be charged a booking fee.
