The
Department offers a range of academic and professional
programmes leading to internationally respected and
accredited qualifications. Students on these programmes
come from a wide range of backgrounds, bringing with
them either work or prior learning experience.

Students intending to study Business Studies at South Chelsea College will be assessed upon arrival and advised as to which courses are most suited to their needs, unless they have previously gained verifiable and recognised qualifications elsewhere.
Business Studies and Communication – Foundation level
This
one-year course provides students who have no previous
experience of the subject with an opportunity to gain
City and Guilds qualifications in Business Studies,
Book-Keeping/Accounting, Business Communications and
Numeracy.
It
is an excellent access course for students planning
to enroll on ABE (Association of Business Executives)
courses, or for those intending to move directly into
employment.
For students whose level of English and Numeracy is not sufficient to enable them to follow this course a key skills alternative is available - Foundation level 1.
Association of Business Executives (ABE)
Business Administration (Certificate, Diploma1&2, Advanced Diploma)
The Association of Business Executives (ABE) is a professional organisation offering public examinations in Business Administration and Travel & Tourism at certificate and diploma levels. SCC Business Studies Students are invited by the University of Hertfordshire to convert their Advanced Diploma in Business Administration into an Hons BSc in Business Administration or an Hons BSc in International Business Administration via a one year “top-up” course. To sit these examinations you have to become a member of the ABE, and the College will assist students in applying for membership. A small membership fee will apply.
Success at the Advanced Diploma level of ABE examinations enables a student to apply for the final year of an Honours Degree Programme or for a Masters in Business Administration. ABE examinations are accepted by the UK Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.

Success in these examinations qualifies the student to progress to either further study at diploma level or appropriate employment.
Entry requirements
Students must demonstrate competence in English Language. It is the College policy to offer a short test to students who do not have verified formal examination qualifications at the start of the academic year. Those students whose level of previous education is considered insufficient to cope immediately with the course will be offered either the Business Studies and Communication course or a key skills alternative as an access option.
Diploma in Business Administration
The two-year programme enables students to develop analytical skills and a deeper understanding of business and management problems covered at certificate level.
Diploma 1 is covered in the first year and includes:

- Accounting
- Business Communications.
Diploma 2 is covered in the second year and includes:
- Management
- Quantitative Methods
- Marketing
- Business Law
- Cost and Management Accounting.
On completion of the diploma programme, students will be well qualified to progress to either the advanced diploma, university courses, further professional development or appropriate employment.
Entry requirements
ABE Certificate
Two 'A' level passes plus four GCSE passes at grade A- C, two of which must be English and Maths.
Overseas qualifications which, following University of London guidelines, may be accepted by ABE as being equivalent to the above.
Advanced Diploma in Business Administration
This advanced level qualification equips students to continue their studies at an advanced level before completing a degree or MBA either at University or through distance-learning.
